The concept of 2009: Year of the Deer

The idea for this project started sometime mid-2008, but it wasn't until November / December the same year as I had decided on the rules I would follow.

Ah, yes. The rules. It was quite simple;

1. Each track could only contain sounds recorded and found during the month.
2. Each track (except for the sixth and twelfth) would be 10 minutes long.
3. Each track (except the twelfth) would be freely available for three days the following month.

And looking back at them, there was only one time where I failed. It was with the track for July, as I was working on a lot of different projects at the time, it got less attention than I had intended.

Some months the YOTD track would be the only thing I actually worked on, and they were on my mind pretty much all of the time. But it also felt nice to sort of forcing myself to be creative, though I usually don't need to.

Now, onto the details of the tracks...

January
The last track composed in House 5.
The sound sources were mainly recorded on new year’s eve at Heidenstamsgatan in Uppsala, Sweden. Close friends and new acquaintances can be heard in the background.

The first track composed in Apt 721.

Made in just one evening, the day after I came home from Rethymno on Crete, Greece. Which incidentally is where all the sound sources were recorded.

All sounds and sources recorded in Kotka, Finland except for the pot lid and toy uzi which were recorded in Uppsala, Sweden. The track was completely composed in Kotka, Finland. Sometimes while under the enhancement of alcohol.
